Nepotism to Ruin The Karate Kid
We all loved the The Karate Kid back in the day.
Hell, I know women who STILL get flush when they see Ralph Macchio because of the movie.
That is the power of Hollywood.
Since Will Smith is a box office kingpin, he’s using his power to not only direct The Karate Kid remake, but to make a generation of girls exited about his son Jaden, who Smith has cast as Daniel-san.
That is the power of Nepotism.

Is this the kid that starred with Will in that movie about the guy who lived on the streets with his son while trying to get a high-profile job? Or is this another kid?
Never saw that movie, and never saw 90210 either, but I’m sure that Tori Spelling is a very fine actress.
And Bobby Bonds’ kid that followed him into baseball…uh…uh…

Yup, his 9 year old kid. Thus destroying the Ralph Macchio “30 year old playing a teenager” value. Unless Smith is hiding something…

I’m still trying to figure out how they’ll account for the physical performance gap between a teen and a nine year-old.
Ok, well that problem can be solved by really short stunt-doubles, like the ones they use for Tom Cruise.

Alright, better line of inquiry. Any word on what kind of class angle they’re playing for this Karate Kid? Would Will Smith try to MAKE his son try to front like he has an inner-city leaning that he CLEARLY would have no frame of reference for? Could Smith avoid studio pressure to avoid stereotypes that the bosses would think in the best interests of marketing?
Any other Will Smith children making appearances in this flick?

The Karate Kid will mimic Fresh Prince of Bel Air in some way. Jaden will be Will or Carlton. I wanna know who’s playing Cobra Kai!
