What Can We Learn From W’s Playlist?
After my post about Hitler’s Desert Island Discs, I wondered what kind of music George Bush likes.
And I found out:
Bush’s iPod is heavy on traditional country singers like George Jones, Alan Jackson and Kenny Chesney. The president also has an eclectic mix of songs…(a)mong them are “Circle Back” by John Hiatt, “(You’re So Square) Baby, I Don’t Care” by Joni Mitchell, and “My Sharona,” the 1979 song by the Knack.
If it’s true that folks love to listen to music from people they hate, I guess Kanye West was wrong, George Bush doesn’t really hate Black people.
He just isn’t entertained by them.
If it’s also true those in power persecute people who entertain them, you know who should really be scared of George Bush, based on his musical preferences?
Rednecks and The Knack.
