(Too many think of church as a smorgasbord of things to be consumed, rather than a place to serve.) Now, with this latest brouhaha, potential parishoners will probably require pastors to fill out political opinion surveys before they start attending. "I'm sorry, Reverend Smith, but your answer to the 'support for endangered species' question could cause problems for Tommy Junior in the future. He's treasurer of the junior high student council, you know." It’s bad enough for pastors already, as potential parishoners evaluate the pastor regarding whether he or she will provide the services to meet the potential parishoners’ needs.
